I've always loved this Carole King tune, first encountering James Taylor's version and then discovering the original off of Tapestry. Undeniably one of the greatest songs of the 70s, You've Got a Friend serves as a canvas for other artist's own elaborations and interpretations. My own version mixes together a bit of the charm of Taylor's cover, Donny Hathway's RnB harmony, and my own flair here and there.
